Making this was the first time I did paper piecing. It was a little frustrating because I was slow at it and almost all the other ladies in the class had done it before, but I was happy with the result. Now to make 11 more blocks before my cousin becomes a dad! The baby is due in April. I have two baby quilts to finish before this, tho, so, we'll see.
This is what the pattern looks like all made up (but mine will be smaller, because I'm only doing 12 blocks).
I'm really pleased with my colors (although of course I like this purple one a lot, too!).
This is a quarterly class. The class in April is making a pattern called Ceiling Tiles. It's a pretty cool pattern, but I don't have anyone to make it for, so I think I will just help my mom with hers. I tried (and failed) to get a friend to pay for the material so I could make one for her! Oh well. It will be fun to help Mom.
After that is the July (?) class, and we'll be making this one, called Apple Stars. I prefer more differentiation, so while I don't have my fabric picked out, I think I will make my stars stand out more than this.
There is some really pretty fabric at Cotton Cupboard that I have my eye on for this! I'm just going to make a throw for me to use downstairs. I've been using the snowball snowman quilt, but eventually I won't want that sitting out (like when it's 100 degrees for five months!).
Then there's Icy Waters. It's my fave.
It was also my favorite quilt at Quilt Con last year. The fact that it was made exactly like the one in the book makes me like the one at Quilt Con a bit less. But it's still gorgeous! I'm excited to make it. I'm not going to make it just like this, because I already have a bunch of fabric chosen, but it will be blues.
