Illinois

Woo hoo! I went to Katie's shower yesterday and got lots of compliments on the invitations! No orders, of course, but people sure liked them. We also gave out the cards that I made as the gifts. I didn't see Mom give Joan hers. I'll have to ask Mom what she said. I thought those turned out great.
And I received payment for the last quilt I did! Woo hoo, again! So I can keep going on her quilts! I need to get back in the groove when I get home and get the two baby quilts that I'm working on completed. Then dig into Jenn's.

Pregnancy work outs.

I just went to gym with the knowledge I was pregnant. I remember reading before that if you're used to working out, you should continue working out when you're pregnant. So, that's what I did! I also remember that last time, I started being able to feel my bump when I would stretch afterwards, and that was uncomfortable because I felt like I was squishing my baby. So I stopped working out because I hate not being able to stretch out my back after working out. I'll have to find a new way to stretch my back this time around.

New cards!

Here are pictures of the cards that I finally finished the other day for my mom. They are gifts for the bridal shower that she is hosting at the end of the month. The first two are for her best friend, who likes greens and pinks. The last three are for the bride and for a lucky guest.

I think they turned out great!

Back to the gym!

I've only gone once in the past three weeks, I think! It's time to rectify that!

Baby quilts.

Oh, man. Yesterday afternoon I worked from three until 7 on some baby quilts. They are taking forever!!!!!!!! I can't believe how little I got done, and I worked solidly that whole time, except for maybe 20 minutes. I was watching the BBC's Emma with Romola Garai in it. It's really good. I was bummed to have to leave before I got to the end. But I lost track of time and should have stopped at 6! I looked down at my phone and realized it was 7 and started freaking out! We should have been at the Lothringers for dinner by then! Seth was TIRED. He didn't even make a sound that whole time, even though he was napping an hour later than usual.

I have a couple of chores to do (laundry, mostly), and then I'm hoping to do some more work on those baby quilts.

Samples for Anna.

And, exhale. . . .

Now that the Lothringer wedding is over and we have returned from Jason's grandma's funeral in Corpus Christi, maybe I can update my blog! I am very, very excited to say that I'm planning to work on quilts this afternoon as soon as Seth goes down for his nap! One for Jenn, which was supposed to be for her wedding a year ago (my god, I'm slow), and one each for the new(ish) babies belonging to Michelle and Monique. Again, Monique's baby is coming up on a year. Michelle's won't be a year until September, though, so I've got a little time, there! :-)

Here are pictures of the card samples I made for my cousin Anna. She was excited to get them and said that she made notes and has sent them back to me. I can't wait to see what she says!

When I made this one, I remember thinking it was kind of boring, but actually, I really like it now!

Here are two variations on the same theme. A white sheet atop a pastel print, atop a darker pastel cardstock that I've texturized. I could either do the scallop edge on the pastel print or keep it simple. I like them both.

This one is really a bastardization of the invitation that Jenn Lothringer made for her wedding. I think it's really pretty. I told Anna that we'd do the flowers in colors (versus the black that the middle flower is in) so it will all match. I love the sparkle the little bit of Stickles adds.

Here are another two that are a variation on the same theme. Cutting the flower out and putting it on with the brad would definitely take some major time.

This one doesn't show up in the picture very well, but it turned out really cute, too.

That was it for Anna! My crabby kid needs a nap. :-) And then it's happy quilting for me!
